jazz on the radio (diary #6)

Listening to jazz on the radio. Someone picked it out to be played and the music was made by a person and the waves travel from a little station a few miles from me to bring me comfort music with my morning coffee or my evening bowl.

The radio means so much to me. It's a community gathering place in itself. A locally accessed live broadcast. You are listening with other people, maybe your neighbors, certainly someone near you. You might be listening to your neighbors favorite song that they called in. You could hear something you never ever could have found on streaming.

Local radio was/is a passion of mine. I think local radio stations do a lot of lifting for community gathering and engagement that, not everyone really see's.

I struggle to leave my house these days, and I struggle to really talk to people. So hearing the radio brings me comfort, that it's some way I can hear my community without having to step out into it quite yet.

I would like to work in radio again.
